Anyone like to join me at the Ropetackle on Sunday night?

Herbie Flowers but (in my view!) more importantly - Charlotte Glasson!  She is a one woman band - more about her here... http://www.charlotteglasson.com/

If anyone went to see the Brighton Beach Boys this year (or last) they'll know she is unforgettable!

The Lady Of Burma by Richard Shannon

Richard Shannon's celebrated play based on the inspirational true story of the Burmese leader Aung San Suu Kyi is revived exclusively for Brighton Festival with an updated script specially commissioned to include the momentous events of 2010.

This powerful solo performance, starring Liana Gould and directed by Owen Lewis, captures both the political reality of military rule and the personal struggle of Burma's Nobel Peace Prize-winning, democratically elected leader through fifteen years of house arrest.

Burma VJ:  Reporting from a Closed Country

I'm going to this film on Tuesday 24 May at 7:30pm at the Duke of York's cinema - nearly sold out - only 6 seats left when I checked - let me know if you want to meet up at a bar nearby beforehand (Thai food available close by) - 0796 872 6779 -

http://www.brightonfestival.org/Event/Burma-VJ:-Reporting-From-a-Cl...

"Armed with pocket-sized video cameras, a
tenacious band of Burmese reporters face down
death to expose the repressive regime controlling their country. Compiled from shaky handheld footage, acclaimed film maker Anders Ostergaard's Burma VJ pulls us into the heat of the moment as the video-journalists themselves become the target of the Burmese government. The film plays like a thriller, and is all the more frightening because it is real."
